Trivia: Since everyone else is doin' it (Alex Trebek, AFI HQ, I <3 the 80's on VH1, you name it)

Hey guys, just figured I'd post a little BA trivia to keep everyone in the loop as well as bring you back to the good ol' days of Cexcells and early BA things. Enjoy!

On a side note, we appreciate all the post feedback thus far but please refrain from the negativity and the "lack of news" sidechats going on in the commentaries. When we get news, it will be put up. There may not be news for some time considering the Crash Love tour is going on til March. If you don't want to read non-news, then go eat some fruit snacks and watch X Files. There are far better non-productive things to do. srsly.

RANDOM TRIVIA COMIN ATCHA!!!
  • Blaqk Audio was actually first mentioned to be a side project before Sing The Sorrow was even released. The group didn't release any material until about 5 years later.
  • An instrumental version of “The Love Letter” was shown in the theatrical trailer for “The Eye", which starred Jessica Alba.
  • Blaqk Audio have done 3 cover songs so far; "Hold me Now" by the Thompson Twins, "Girls and Boys" by Blur, and "No New Tales to Tell" (their most recent cover) by Love and Rockets set to hit a tribute album in March.
  • Decemberunderground, Jade Puget said in an interview conducted by Guitar World that "37mm" as well as "Love Like Winter" were originally meant for Cexcells due to their more obvious electronic sounds.
  • Their second album is said to have taken a direction that's more "drum and bass heavy" according to Billboard Magazine.
  • "Between Breaths" is in fact about Breathplay/AES. Choke on that, sex fiends. Also, don't try this at home kids.
  • Stiff Kittens music video hasn’t yet been released but it was shown on a drop screen during their debut tour behind Jade’s keyboard and synth set-up. Much of it featured night vision and Davey in tight enclosed tunnel-like spaces.
  • So far, "Mute", "The Ligature" and "Blaqk Electric" haven't been performed live yet.
  • Cexcells is meant to be both literal and figurative. It was released on August 11th world-wide and came out in states August 14th the via UMG, Interscope's parent label.
  • With this being their sophomore-side-project release, and knowing that Puget's said that the band has written 70 songs aside from the planned 12 tracks for BBH, there's a possibility this could result in a shift of the concept of it (whether there may be one), and the milieu of B-side groupings this could result in could drastically differ.
Knowing that Jade and Davey boast favorite bands such as Assemblage 23, VNV Nation, Apoptygma Berzerk, Combichrist, Imperative Reaction, Covenant, Aphex Twin, Depeche Mode, Daft Punk, etc. Do you as fans feel that there's going to be a merging of Industrial and EBM moreso with the upcoming album? Considering that it's going to be heavier with drums and bass I feel like there are going to be more up-tempo'ed tracks. Then again, Jade also said there will be those Depeche Mode vibes sandwiched in between.

What are you as BA fans hoping for with sounds?

****Also, have any sweet JPGs of your Blaqk Audio tattoos? Send em to me and I'll showcase them in our blog in the upcoming weeks/months.

Wow actually when you say "Since everyone else is DOING IT" you mean "Because AFI News HQ is doing it". Be original

What does my user name have anything to do with this? my name is Katy and I love Hunter that is ORIGINAL

Brittany said...

Wow KxBurgan you bitch that they don't post any Blaqk Audio material then you seem ungrateful when they actually do. What's your deal?

KxBurgan said...

Your right but if they are gonna post some Blaqk Audio material at least they should come up with something on their OWN!

I'm pretty sure AFI News HQ didn't invent the concept of trivia. Just sayin.

Does it really matter? Come on.
Trivia is supposed to be fun, not so people can moan and groan and complain about it. You don't like it- don't read it. It's really, really simple.
See??

:D

Did not know this. :O Is there a video?

Is there some sort of like live video showing "Davey in tight enclosed tunnel-like spaces."? Or where did you see this?

I went to three shows with my best friend Hilary during their debut tour: DC, NYC, and Columbus. I remember at least 2 of them showed it.

I didn't know a lot of this either, haha. Great job Laurel!

Drew said...

Oh and thank you Brittany. They also didn't invent the idea of having contests either, but that's another story.

Interesting I'm gonna see if I can find anything on youtube

Hey, Laurel...Thanks for sharing that neat trivia with us!!! That was a lot of interesting stuff!!! :-)

I knew many of the things, but many were new to me, as well.

I do have some questions, and corrections, though...(:-S)...lol....

Their music was used in a trailer for The Eye...However, Hayden Christiansen is not in The Eye (which I'm actually, about to watch, this evening, oddly enough)...He starred with Jessica Alba in Awake. (Some lesser known guy is in The Eye with her).

When did BA do "Hold Me Now"?!...And, where (if anywhere), can it be heard?! I'd definitely like to hear that!

Do you think that the "Stiff Kittens" video will ever, be released/available?! I thought that it was coming out a couple of years ago, and then, it never did. :-S

I don't know if that date was the release date from somewhere else...But, CexCells was released on August 14th, in the US...Not the 11th.

What issue of Billboard Magazine had information about their new album?!...Can it be found online?!

And, a little piece of trivia of my own...
(Don't know if this is widely-known, or not, but...)
Supposedly, "satellites" are symbolic of unrequited love. (As mentioned on Lilo and Stitch: The Series, strangely enough...lol)

Thanks for the trivia, Laurel! Muy Interesante!!! :-)

Someone better get their hands on that magazine...

lol..."Or else"?!

Well, if there's news to be found, that would probably, be our best source...So, let's track it down! (lol) [Maybe, Laurel has it.]

Haha, do I really need to remind you of your own post? Please. http://blaqknews.blogspot.com/2009/11/bright-black-heaven-will-have-boxset.html

That's the Billboard info.

*Neon nights, electric life* said...

Hey Kristin, it was released nationally on August 11th and that's usually the date I reference in music columns since it pertains to everyone :)

My bad about the Hayden Christensen thing. I think I saw those movies close together and they got jumbled in my head. There's videos on youtube of Hold Me Now. They performed it at Bamboozle in CA most recently and I think it was even ripped by Pablo on AFIseries since I have the mpg of it on my Itunes.

Last months AP Mag had a brief insert about the new BA as well other than Billboard mentioning it.

Drew said...

Sorry Jason I just heard someone mention there would be some new info on them in their magazine. I know about the post.

Where is the interview/article/whathaveyou that mentions Between Breaths being about AES? I'm very curious to read about this, haha.

~*Kristin Star*~ said...

Laurel...Did you mean, "international"?!...I know that nationally, it was August 14th (which was a Tuesday).

Yeah, those two movies can, easily, be confused. I finally, opened my copy of The Eye, last night, and the first thing that I watched was the trailer, because I had wanted to check that out for quite some time. (lol)

Are you talking about the December AP, with AFI on the cover?! I have it, but haven't read it, yet. (:-S)

Cool trivia, though! Don't worry about the "hataz". ;-)

to Courtney M. - the interview was on Loveline with Dr. Drew and it was briefly mentioned. I have the mp3 of it if anyone would like it.

Kristin, yep knew about the satellite thing due to being an english major and reading too much Shakespeare over the years. Another good song with this is: Satellite of Love by The Velvet Underground. Older, but lovely.

~*Kristin Star*~ said...

Cool...Thanks for sharing!...I'll see if I can check it out. (:-)) [I've heard of them, but don't think that I've ever, knowingly, heard their music...lol]

Oh yeah, I heard that interview...Luv listening to the guys...But, listening through that program (with all the callers' disturbing problems, and whatnot) is pretty torturous. :-S (lol) [I think that I have it saved, as well, though-but, on my old computer.] {Actually, I recall two "Loveline" interviews with the two of them...But, one was specifically as Blaqk Audio}
